These are questions I get asked occasionally, so it seems silly to call them ‘FAQ’. But whatever, I’m sure you get the idea.
First off, what’s the point of this blog?
It’s all about fun, (mostly) healthy breakfast recipes! I don’t write this blog for a particular purpose – I’m not trying to advocate for any issues or diets, or anything like that. Instead, this blog is really just for my own amusement. And if someone else likes it to, that that’s fabulous!
I just love breakfast! Well, I do now – if you look at my main About Me page, you see that I wasn’t always a breakfast person. But these days I consider breakfast the best part of the day!
Do you have a real job?
I’m a full-time student (currently in law school, after finishing my first degree in economics). So technically yes, if you count studying as a job.
Most of your recipes are sweet, or at least not savory. Why is that?
I never feel like savory food in the morning. The idea of waking up and eating eggs (or a tofu scramble) seems so weird to me. And there’s no bacon or sausages because I’m a vegetarian. Whenever there are savory recipes on this blog, they’re always of things I’ve made for lunch or dinner (even if they seem like breakfast foods).
Why are there so many oatmeal recipes on this blog?
What can I say, I like oatmeal! Originally this blog was virtually only oatmeal – but then I decided it would be a good idea to explore some of my other favorite breakfast foods.
Are you gluten-free/vegan/anything else?
I’m vegetarian, but try to share plenty of recipes that are gluten-free or vegan since I know there are plenty of people out there who can’t have gluten, dairy, eggs, etc. I’ve also had a history of digestive problems, which is why I often opt for easier-to-digest options, such as spelt flour and almond milk.
Do you provide nutritional information for your recipes?
No, I don’t provide any nutritional information, calorie counts, etc. As I’m not a nutritionist or medical expert, I don’t feel as though I can provide accurate information and would not wish to mislead anyone.
What type of camera do you use?
Ever since the middle of June 2014 I’ve been using an Olympus EM-1 with an Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 60mm f2.8 Macro Lens. Before then, I was using an Olympus EM-10. And the pictures on the earliest posts on this blog are taken using my iPhone (although I have been updating the earlier pictures, so hopefully the iPhone photos will all be gone soon!).
What happened to my comment? Did your blog eat it?
Sort of. Sometimes actual comments end up in the blog’s spam filter, and I’m very sorry about that!
Can I repost your recipes on my own blog/other places?
The general internet etiquette (or ‘netiquette’) is to link back to the original recipe, rather than reposting it.
However, if you’re interested in posting any of my photos, I’m fine with that as long as you give me photo credit and link back to the recipe.
